!What is Paws on the Shore (P.O.T.S)

Paws on the Shore is a one of a kind grassroots community organization for dogs!

Paws on the Shore is a hiking group for dogs, with a twist!

We host hikes in the South Etobicoke and surrounding areas. All hikes are on leash and provide a safe environment for your dogs to gain experiences, exposure and socialization.
ALL dogs are welcome on our hikes! The best thing for any dog is proper socialization, stimulation and exercise.

ALL breeds and temperaments are welcome on our hikes, so bring the energetic and excited, the laid back and shy, the nervous and scared,
the bullies and the barkers!

Hikes are on-leash only and we ask that all by-laws be respected.

Lots of dogs have social issues and their owners feel embarrassed or scared to have them around other dogs or people.
Paws on the Shore is a place to socialize ALL dogs free from feelings of embarrassment and looks of judgment.

If you feel that your dog is making another dog nervous or another dog is making your dog uncomfortable, we ask that you please just
re-position yourself within the group accordingly! Please allow everyone space.

Come out for a scenic hike and to support a great cause!
Families are welcome, children must be supervised at all times and must not approach others dogs and/or run around the dogs. (Practice safety)

Paws on the Shore strives to provide several distinct goals:

1. To provide an opportunity for ALL dogs to gain the benefits of proper socialization.
Socialization, stimulation and exercise are the essential keys to a dogs physical and mental well being.

2. To provide acceptance and support to owners of ALL types of dogs.                                                                                                                           A welcoming and non-judgmental environment for owners of all types of dogs

3. To raise awareness and funds for local organizations.
Each hike will highlight a different organization. Donations for that particular organization will be accepted at the hike on their behalf.

4. To educate and inform.
Our loot bags are full of information on various animal related topics including; dog body language, bite prevention education, low cost spay/neuter clinics, animal rescue organizations, education and advocacy groups, breed specific legislation, responsible dog ownership, training tips, safety tips and much more.  Content of the bags various at each event.  Leftover loot bags are distributed to local pet owners throughout the community.
We have had hikers come from as far as Burlington and Cambridge to join in for a hike thereby spreading education and awareness to other local communities.

5. To build a strong community
Building a community that is informed, and that works together.  Our hikes take place at local parks, and our prizes are donated by local businesses!
